Kerry Damianakes (born 1949)
Kerry Damianakes has great strength in her hands, which gives her the ability to powerfully manipulate the materials she uses in the production of her art. Inspired by pictures in culinary magazines, Damianakes recreates images of her favorite foods using oil pastels on paper. Working in a bold and colorful style,.she demonstrates a love of clean and simple form bounded by strong, black lines. Damianakes’s expressionistic drawings of food, flowers, and animals reflect her dynamic personality. She has been a participant at Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, California since 1983. Damianakes’s drawings have been widely exhibited both at Creative Growth and in many outside shows including one at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco in 1998. Her work is held in many private collections throughout the United States.
